You can now display previously posted and approved comments on your website even after disabling new comments using the Disable Comments plugin. The ‘Show Existing Comments’ feature makes this possible effortlessly.
This option is perfect if you want to stop new spam submissions while still preserving your existing comment discussions. Follow the steps below to enable this feature on your WordPress website.
Step 1: Enable the ‘Show Existing Comments’ Feature #
From your WordPress Dashboard, go to ‘Settings → Disable Comments’. Check if your comments have been disabled (either everywhere, on specific post types or pages, etc.). This will prevent any new visitor from commenting on your post/page.
Now, find the ‘Show Existing Comments’ option. Turn this option ON to keep already approved comments visible on your site. Once enabled, scroll down and click “Save Changes.”
Step 2: Save Settings and Check the Changes #
Your previous comments will now remain visible across the site or the post type, even though the commenting feature is disabled. Let’s see a post with existing comments.
You can see the post above shows previous comments, but there is no option to post any new comments.
